History: 85 years and counting

SMOK has a long heritage reaching back over eight decades. In 1935 we were founded as a tax law firm by David S. Pattullo. Mr. Pattullo was a distinguished attorney and CPA who was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. He served the Oregon State Bar as Chairman of its tax committee as well as treasurer. Under his leadership, the firm soon became known as one of the top tax law firms in the Portland area. For 29 years, Mr. Pattullo taught taxation at Lewis & Clark School of Law and in 1978 was recognized by the Law School with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree.
